Last-Minute Father’s Day Plans in #downtownlex

By: Autumn Brock

Father’s Day is coming up quickly, and if you are still looking for ways to celebrate or last-minute gift ideas, we have you covered!

If you need the perfect gift for this weekend, there are tons of places you can visit and shop downtown. If the father you are shopping for is a fan of racing, horses, or Keeneland, you have to check out Keeneland Mercantile. They have a wide variety of options ranging from apparel and accessories, bar essentials, books, decor, and of course, bourbon! They also have gift cards if you aren’t sure exactly what to choose.

Another option for gifts is the VisitLEX Lexington Visitors Center gift shop where you can find “Lexington” or “Kentucky” themed memorabilia! They have shirts, hats, drinkware, decor, and more! Their helpful staff also have wonderful suggestions on places to visit and things to do throughout the city.

Another great local shop is Failte Irish Imports, where they have all kinds of products that would make the perfect gift for Father’s Day, including wallets, belts and belt buckles, hats, and so much more! If your dad loves Ireland (or just delicious candy and chocolates) this is the place for you!

For a Father’s Day outing, #downtownlex has a variety of activities for all different interests! If you are looking for all-around fun, LexLive is a fantastic choice. This one-stop-shop has an arcade, bowling alley, bar, restaurant, and of course, a movie theater. Make your dad feel like a kid again with a full day of play at LexLive.

Another place to have an entire day’s worth of fun is Greyline Station, which is home to plenty of great food and drink options such as Rise Up Pizza, Wing Kyng, Old North Bar, The Social Vegan, and many more. Greyline also has a variety of shops like Poppy & Pomelo and Vintage Therapy in addition to the unique local vendors at Julietta Market!

Depending on the weather, you might be looking for an outdoor activity. If so, Downtown Lexington has a great selection of parks, like Woodland Park, Triangle Park, and Thoroughbred Park. Here you can relax, enjoy the weather, have a picnic, play basketball, go for a bike ride, or whatever you choose to make the day special!

Father’s Day is a time to celebrate all of the father figures in our lives, and no matter how you choose to spend the day, nothing can beat quality time spent together! Happy Father’s Day to all the dads and have a great Father’s Day weekend!

Don’t forget while you are out celebrating the day, that any purchase made at a Downtown Lexington Partnership member business can be entered in DowntownLEX Together presented by Central Bank and could win you and your dad weekly $50 gift cards to local businesses and a $500 cash grand prize!
