Valentine’s Day in #downtownlex

By Morgan Burleigh

It is officially the season of love! Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and it is one of my favorite times of the year. Indulging in chocolate and candy, decorating the house with beautiful flowers, and seeing all things red and pink always gets me in the Valentine’s spirit. Whether you spend February 14th with friends, your significant other, or by yourself, it is such a special time to celebrate love of all kinds! From date night options to unique gifts, #downtownlex is the perfect place to spend your Valentine’s Day.

If you are looking to have a fun night out at a restaurant, there are plenty of exciting options! Ethereal Brewing Public House is featuring a special menu from Salt & Vinegar with libations to pair. They are also offering a delicious Scwarzwalder Torte for dessert for free with the purchase of two entrees! For those craving a luxury dining experience, Jeff Ruby’s is the perfect spot. For a limited time, you can enjoy their Filet Mignon & Lobster Feature for only $65 per person. This special includes Jeff Ruby’s 6 oz. Filet Mignon, 6 oz. lobster tail, Freddie salad, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. Another great option is Lockbox, located in the lobby of 21c Museum Hotel, which has a four-course menu available from February 10th through February 14th. The menu is prepared by Executive Chef Nicholas Fisherkeller and the Culinary Team. A reservation is required, so make sure to book your reservation today! If you are planning a big night out, stop by Bella Rose Boutique for a stunning outfit or jewelry to really make an impression this Valentine’s Day. Take your new outfit to new heights with On the Rox, a rooftop bar located on the top floor of the Roxy building. Enjoy specialty cocktails with a one of a kind view of Downtown Lexington.

Outside of dinner, Downtown Lexington is also filled with options for Valentine’s entertainment! Spend February 14th at Rupp Arena and see Journey with special guest Toto! A concert is a perfect spot for a romantic date night or a night out with friends. If you are looking for a more casual evening, head over to Old North Bar at Greyline Station for Paint and Sip Tuesday! Tickets for the paint and sip include a guided class led by Kem Trails Creative Studio, painting supplies, charcuterie, a wine & chocolate pairing, a drink from Old North Bar, and music from DJs! Greyline Station is also offering cookie decorating and kids’ Hershey Kiss making on February 12th. If your favorite local spot is Lussi Brown Coffee Bar, you are in luck! They are staying open on Valentine’s Day from 5:00 to 10:00 pm for a pop-up. Couples, singles, & valentines friendly, 21+, and no laptops allowed!  Check out their seasonal spring coffee and cocktails menu!

While nice meals and Valentine’s activities are great, surprising a friend or loved one with a gift is so special. Judah and the Lions are performing at Manchester Music Hall on March 23. As a Valentine’s Day “Sweetheart Deal,” tickets are currently buy one get one 50% off! Give the gift of a live show and a shared memory to a loved one this year! And what would Valentine’s Day be without some chocolate? Head to Failte Imports and get 20% off boxes and bags of chocolate and biscuits until February 14th!

Whether you have a romantic night at a restaurant, go to a concert or fun activity, or even snuggle up at home and watch a movie, make sure to spend the holiday with those you love or show yourself the love you deserve.
