Fall in Downtown Lexington

By Olivia Ackermann

The first day of fall is around the corner and we are already feeling the full effects of the season. Whether you love to spend your fall days bundled up sipping a pumpkin-spiced latte, at Kroger Field cheering on the Cats, or sampling seasonal beers with your friends, #downtownlex has everything you need to get into the fall spirit.

Fall Brews

If you are a lover of all things pumpkin flavored, #downtownlex has the perfect spots for you. Old School Coffee is a local coffee shop located in Dudley Square. Their fall menu includes various pumpkin-flavored drinks ranging from a classic pumpkin spiced latte to a pumpkin dirty chai. If pumpkin isn’t your thing, don’t worry, they carry other fall-flavored specialty drinks, such as their maple brown

sugar latte. Whatever your preference, Old School Coffee has the perfect drink to start off your crisp fall mornings.

If your love for pumpkin flavor goes beyond coffee, Ethereal Brewing has the drink for you. Their annual “basic” autumn pumpkin spice ale with vanilla is a fall necessity.

Caturdays

Along with everything pumpkin spiced, fall means Caturdays are finally back in Lexington, and the gameday atmosphere here is unmatched. Luckily, no matter how you like to spend a gameday there is a place for you. If you love being surrounded by thousands of other cheering fans dressed head to toe in royal blue and white, while watching all the action in person, Kroger Field is the perfect place for you. However, if you prefer watching with a smaller crowd, you can watch at one of the many bars and breweries showing the game, such as Tin Roof or Ethereal Brewing. Whether you are watching at Kroger Field, your favorite sports bar, or cozy at home, football is a fall staple in Downtown and what better way to watch the game than with a pumpkin-spiced ale from Ethereal Brewing?

Fall Events

Downtown Lexington doesn’t just stop the fall fun at football and pumpkin spice. Mark your calendars for these upcoming fall events! Central Bank Thursday Night Live is still taking place every week at the Fifth Third Bank Pavilion in Tandy Park and will be every Thursday through October 13th. Make your transition into fall a fun one with the best beverages, food, and live music. Along with CBTNL, downtown is home to various fall festivals such as West Sixth Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 1st! Enjoy German-style brews and food at the event, which benefits the nonprofit, Food Chain Lex. If one Oktoberfest isn’t enough for you, join Greyline Station for Brews & Bites Oktoberfest on October 22nd. The festival will include 20+ Kentucky breweries, 10+ food vendors, and live music!
