We've made the Urban Mountain Challenge even more challenging! Climb TWO buildings in Downtown Lexington back to back!
2012 age division results are here!
Urban Mountain Challenge is a stair-climbing event where climbers will be competing against the clock for fastest time as individuals or in pairs.
On January 26th you are invited to climb to the top of the 300 West Vine Street Building (Central Bank building) and the Lexington Financial Center (Fifth Third Bank building) in Downtown Lexington, Kentucky. Once you reach the top, look out at the breathtaking panoramic view of downtown Lexington. Then enjoy a celebration with food, drinks and entertainment at the Survivors’ Party outside of the 300 West Vine Street Building!

Race Details
The Challenge will begin with 22 stories at the 300 West Vine Street Building. Climbers of both towers will then take the stairs up 29 stories of the Lexington Financial Center at 250 W. Main Street for a combined time of both climbs. Single-tower climbers will only climb up the 300 West Vine Street Building. Single-tower climbers will not be eligible for awards. Teams will designate a tower for each person. The first climber will pass the timing chip to his/her teammate after he/she finishes the 300 West Vine Street Building; the second climber will then race up the Lexington Financial Center to finish.
There will be several rest points located along the course that offer water, restrooms, medics, and the opportunity to bail out and take the elevator back down to the lobby.
The 300 West Vine Street Building's and Lexington Financial Center’s stairwells turn to the right. While climbing, please pass on the left only and let the person ahead of you know you are about to pass them. Upon completion of each tower, climbers will take the elevators back to the main lobby.
Only participants, staff and volunteers are permitted in the stairwells. The carrying of any objects is strictly prohibited in the stairwell including but not limited to the following:
- iPods or music devices
- Water bottles
- Children
- Water belts with removable bottles
- Keys, cell phones, PDAs
- Cameras (Video or still)
A bag and coat check will be located in the lobby. Please leave your personal belongings at the bag check or with a family member or friend who is not participating in the climb.
Stay after you compete for food, music, warmth, and awards at the Survivors' Party located in the 300 West Vine Street Building's plaza off of Vine Street!
