If you've attended Mayfest in
the past, be prepared for some delightful changes this year.
The biggest change this year
is the participation of exclusively Kentucky residents and a focus on
Kentucky arts and culture. All the vendors and performers will be your
neighbors so be sure to come out and support their work! The festival has a
new layout which will include a dedicated music festival area, additional
activities for children, hand-on activities for both children and adults,
easier access to all of the wonderful arts and crafts booths and a new
section dedicated to Young Emerging Artists. The Carnegie Center is
planning adult workshops activities for all ages and there will be
additional activities being held concurrently by the Hunt-Morgan House and
the Bradley Bullock House. Be sure to check back for additional details as
the event approaches! We will be putting up an online directory to Mayfest
with detailed listings of Vendors, entertainment and activities. Save the
date: Saturday May 12, 10am - 6pm
and Sunday May 13, 11am - 5pm at Gratz Park in Downtown Lexington.
Poster Contest:
First, second and third place have been chosen by jury but we are currently
accepting votes for the new People’s Choice Award. Cast your vote in person
at the office (145 W. Main Street, Ste. 100) or online (http://www.downtownlex.com/mayfest_posters.asp).
Votes will be taken through May 4.
Visual Artists:
A variety of Art/Craft artists from Kentucky will be exhibiting their works
along Market and Mill streets.
Concession Vendors:
Mayfest boasts a variety of food vendors - from traditional festival fare to
the unique - offerings include funnel cakes, lemonade, fudge, grilled
burgers and brats, ethnic foods and more!
