Hollywood's Brightest Stars

 

A Summer series of classic Hollywood movies shown at the historic Kentucky Theatre located in Downtown Lexington on Main Street. 

 

Show Times:
Movies are shown every Wednesday in June, July and August at 1:30pm & 7:15pm.

 

Tickets:
All seats are $3. Tickets can be purchased in advance beginning the Sunday before each film plays, on Monday and Tuesday evenings or after 12 Noon on the Wednesday of each show.

 

Parking is available in the Annex Garage, located on East Main Street, just West of MLK Blvd.

City Lights (1931)

Back to the Future (1985)
In 1985, Doc Brown invented time travel, in 1955, Marty McFly accidentally prevented his parents from meeting, putting his own existence at stake.

 

July 9:
Lost Horizon (1937)
A plane crash delivers a group of people to the secluded land of Shangri-La -- but is it the miraculous utopia it appears to be?

 

July 16:
Spartacus (1960)
The slave Spartacus leads a violent revolt against the decadent Roman empire.

 

July 23
Casablanca (1941)
Set in unoccupied Africa during the early days of World War II, an American expatriate meets a former lover, with unforeseen complications.

 

July 30
Funny Face (1957)
Fashion photographer Dick Avery (Fred Astaire), meets bookstore salesgirl Jo Stockton's (Audrey Hepburn) during a photo shoot. Jo is offered a modeling contract, which she reluctantly accepts only because it includes a trip to Paris. Eventually, her snobbish attitude toward the job softens, and Jo begins to enjoy the work and the company of her handsome photographer.

 

August 6:
Swiss Family Robinson (1960)
A Swiss settler family in route to New Guinea is shipwrecked on a deserted tropical island. Plenty of adventure ensues as the family deals with issues of survival, pirates and an uncertain future.

 

August 13:
The Magnificent Seven (1960)

An oppressed Mexican peasant village assembles seven gunfighters to help defend their homes.

 

August 20:
The Philadelphia Story (1940)
When a rich woman's ex-husband and a tabloid-type reporter turn up just before her planned remarriage, she begins to learn the truth about herself.

 

August 27:
The War of the Worlds (1953)
H.G. Wells' classic novel is brought to life is this tale of alien invasion. The residents of a small town are excited when a flaming meteor lands in the hills, but their joy is tempered when they discover it has passengers who are not very friendly.
