Breaking Tradition, Forging Ahead: WPA Prints from the Collection - UK Art Museum, May 10 thru Sep 15, Free. Museum Hours: Tuesday – Sunday: 12 to 5 pm and Friday: 12 to 8 pm.The exhibition is a student-organized project under the direction of the museum staff and the instructor of the Museum Studies class. The exhibit asks its audience: "What if you were free to express yourself? In the 1930s, the federal government's Works Progress Administration (WPA) helped put America back to work during the Great Depression. Included in this effort were American artists who were provided a living wage in exchange for works of art. Therapeutic Recreation Adult Fitness - Dunbar Community Center, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12pm - 2pm, Sep 16 thru Nov 20, $30 for the entire session. Individuals who are 18 & over are encouraged to participate in the Parks Therapeutic Recreation adult fitness program. There will be individual and group fitness activities including basketball, whiffle ball, floor hockey, flag football, weight training and cardiovascular exercise. Therapeutic Recreation Aquatics Fun - Beaumont YMCA, Mondays, Sep 15 thru Nov 3, $30 per person. Participants may choose from classes which are offered at 3:30pm - 4pm, 4pm - 4:30pm and 4:30pm - 5pm. Individuals ages 4 & over are invited to participate in the therapeutic recreation aquatics program at the Beaumont YMCA. Community Centers Open for the Season on Monday, September 8 - The Lexington Parks & Recreation Community Centers will open for the season on Monday, September 8. Each of the six centers offers a variety of programs such as aerobics, karate, arts & crafts, safe dances, homework help clubs and more. The centers located at Carver, Castlewood, Dunbar, Kenwick and the new William Wells Brown School will be open from 3pm - 9pm, Monday - Thursday and 3pm - 7pm on Friday.
