  • Balancing Act - Various locations along Vine Street in Downtown Lexington, Nov 1 thru Apr 30, 2009, Free.  Presented by LexArts, this outdoor sculpture exhibit is in conjunction with the Mid-South Sculpture Alliance Conference.  Balancing Act is a six-month outdoor public art exhibit where each sculpture will reflect the artists’ vision of balance. They will be installed at highly visible locations in downtown Lexington along Vine Street.   • Jesta Bell: J. B. Armstrong Discovered - UK Art Museum, Sep 14 thru Nov 30, Gallery Hours: Tues - Sun: 12pm - 5 pm, Fri 12pm - 8pm. Mercer County artist, Jesta Bell Armstrong's art career spanned fifty years from the 1930s through the 1970s. Her beloved Harrodsburg and Mercer County were favorite subjects.  In the early 1930s Jesta Bell drove herself around the countryside taking pictures of everything that caught her eye. Some of her best loved landscapes are of the Kentucky River palisades, painted most often in the spring when the red bud trees were in bloom.   • Karen Spears: New Paintings and Drawings - Ann Tower Gallery, Nov 21 thru Feb 8, 2009. Gallery hours: Tue - Sat 10am - 5pm, Sun 10am to 4pm.  A series of vibrant and mysterious paintings and drawings and large elegant charcoal drawings. Spears' work is rooted in real-life situations, which she interprets in a fragmentary, dream-like way.   • People Around the World - Central Bank Gallery, Nov 28 thru Jan 16, 2009.   • Photographs by Jeffrey Wolin - UK Art Museum, Oct 31 – Dec 7, Free.   • Youth Basketball Sign-Ups - Dunbar Community Center, Saturday, November 8 & 15, 10am - 2pm.  Cost is $55 per player.  Mailed registrations must be postmarked no later than November 14, 2008.  Lexington Parks & Recreation offers a basketball league for boys and girls ages 5 - 15 with age eligibility determined by the participant’s age as of November 30, 2008.  A limited number of scholarships are available upon request.   • Art & Science Classes - Living Arts & Science Center.  Each year, the Living Arts & Science Center presents more than 400 creative art and science classes and workshops for children 18-months old up to adults. Ages 9 - 16.  Harry Potter and the Tales of Beedle the Bard: Bring to life the wizard tales that helped Hermione, Ron and Harry in J.K.
