  • Bluegrass Victorian - Central Public Library Gallery, April 12, thru May 18, Mon - Thur 9am to 9pm, Fri - Sat 9am to 5pm, Sun 1pm - 5pm. Free Admission.  Presented by the Warwick Foundation.  For Preservation Month 2008:  an exhibition of photographs featuring Central Kentucky architecture from the Civil War to the turn of the 20th century.   • Breaking Tradition, Forging Ahead: WPA Prints from the Collection - UK Art Museum, May 10 thru Sep 15, Free. Museum Hours: Tuesday – Sunday: 12 to 5 pm and Friday: 12 to 8 pm.The exhibition is a student-organized project under the direction of the museum staff and the instructor of the Museum Studies class. The exhibit asks its audience: "What if you were free to express yourself?  In the 1930s, the federal government's Works Progress Administration (WPA) helped put America back to work during the Great Depression. Included in this effort were American artists who were provided a living wage in exchange for works of art.   • Cast Offs! - Living Arts & Science Center, Gloria Singletary Gallery, Free. Apr 14 thru May 23. From iPods to childrens’ toys to space shuttles and the family car, 90 percent of all manufactured goods contain one or more cast metal components. Though 20th century foundries have by now nearly perfected the process, the art of pouring metal and the science of metallurgy have been around long before the Declaration of Independence. Classes & Workshops Running Multiple Days

 

  • Adults Tennis League - Open to players 15 years of age and over and includes play for women and men’s singles, women’s, men’s and mixed doubles. All matches are played in the evening at the Shillito Park tennis courts. League sizes are limited and all spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The eight-week session will take place from July 7 through August 29. Registration for the adult evening tennis league is being done on a mail-in basis only and registrations will be accepted until June 13.   • Life-Sized Drawings:  Workshop Series with Stephen Moore - Lexington Art League, Wednesdays, May 14 thru Jun 18, 6:30pm - 8:30pm.  $150 LAL Members, $175 Potential LAL Members.  In this six-week course, students of all levels of experience will learn to create large-scale works on paper using multiple drawing mediums.
