Doggie Costume Contest at Central Bank Thursday Night Live

      Bring your best four-legged friend to Central Bank dog in a bee suit...Thursday Night Live on August 2 for a canine costume contest.  Prizes including a gift card to Dog Town, a doggie goodie bag from For the Love of Dogs Bakery and an Incredipet gift card will be given for the 3 best outfits.  Registration is $10 and a portion of the proceeds benefit the Paris Animal Welfare Society.  Contact Shanna Perino, DLC Event Coordinator, at (859) 425-2593 for more information or to register.

Johnson Brothers
      Together now for 11 years, The Johnson Brothers play a well-balanced mix of high-quality covers including the likes of Elton John, Steely Dan, The Allman Brothers Band and The Beatles. 
      The Johnson Brothers have played at Shakespeare in the Park, Natasha's Cafe and the Lexington Children's Theater, just to name a few, and they return for their sophomore Central Bank Thursday Night Live performance on August 2.

The Downtown Lexington Corporation would like to announce a new publication "Destination Downtown".  This publication will be printed quarterly and have sections for shopping, dining, attractions, nightlife and events.  The first issue will hit Lexington in mid-September.
 
If you are a DLC member and would like to include an event happening between September 15 and November 30 in our events section, send those to info@downtownlex.com no later than Aug. 30th
All member events will also be included in Monday Matters.  All Downtown events regardless of DLC membership status will be posted on the www.downtownlex.com events calendar!

  • Kentucky Literature Academy - Carnegie Center; 9a-4pm.   • Summer Classic Movie Series: The Wizard of Oz - The Kentucky Theatre. 1:30 & 7:15 pm, $3.
  • Downtown Merchant Forum - 8:30 am - Victorian Square.  All Downtown merchants, residents and businesspeople are encouraged to attend this monthly meeting to discuss challenges and ideas for improvement for businesses located Downtown.  Moderated by Harold Tate, President of the Lexington Downtown Development Authority.   • Living Arts & Sciences Center Discovery Nights: Printmaking Extravaganza - Living Arts & Science Center 6-8 pm. Experience the processes and techniques of local printmaker, Derrick Riley, and experiment with woodcuts, mono print, styro-cut and more, with multiple prints to take home.  $1 donation requested for children 5-11 and $2 for children 12 and older.

  • Prints by Men and Women: Printmaking Workshop - UK Art Museum in the Singletary Center for the Arts.  10am-noon. Create your own relief print in this workshop designed for aspiring artists of all abilities. $15 ($10 for UKAM members).  
  • Late Summer Wildflowers - Join the staff of McConnell Springs for a hike in search of wildflowers.  Learn about flowers and the folklore that surrounds them.  Free.  225-4073 for more information.
